Covid 19

National Covid restrictions are easing significantly for all of us in our daily lives from 19th July 2021.

However the restrictions for health care are not changing. There will be no changes to our operating procedure and how you are able to access the surgery. The PPE and our cross infection procedures will remain the same.

Unfortunately, this means appointments times and availability are still very restricted, all dentists are still not able to work at the same time.

We are continuing to offer routine appointments to our backlog of patients.

For patients who require emergency assistance we are still operating telephone triage followed by pre booked emergency appointments if appropriate. Please do not turn up at the surgery as the door will be closed.

The way in which we are able to see and provide treatment for our patients has changed considerably, please see the guidance below to give you some idea of the changes that have been made and what to expect on your next visit.

The day before your appointment by telephone and on the day of you appointment at the front door of the practice the following questions will be asked:

  • Do you have a temperature at the moment and if so, is it over 37.8 degrees centigrade?
  • Have you become breathless or are you more breathless than usual?
  • Do you have a new persistent cough?
  • Do you have flu like symptoms, upset stomach, headache or tiredness?
  • Have you lost your sense of taste and/or smell within the last 14 days?
  • Have you been in contact with any COVID 19 postive patients?
  • Is your age over 60?
  • Do you have heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease, diabetes or any auto immune disorders?

When you attend for your appointment

  • You must come on your own (unless there is a need to be accompanied).
  • The patient toilet facilities are not available due to current guidelines.
  • You should arrive at the appointed time and wait outside the building at a safe distance from others or in your car where possible.
  • You will be met at the door by a nurse wearing appropriate PPE and asked to sanitise your hands, we will also take your temperature when you arrive and repeat the COVID screening questions.
  • You will not be able to enter the practice early and sit in the waiting room, so if you are early, please wait in your car or outside the practice.
  • If you have a mask, please wear it to the practice.
  • Please do not bring unnecessary belongings aside from small personal items/coat with you to the practice as all personal items will need to be left securely outside the surgery door.
  • Please bring a pen with you to the practice to sign your medical history, consent form and possible other forms.
  • Please could you clean your teeth thoroughly before attending for your appointment and avoid all food and drinks until after your appointment.
  • Where possible please pay by contactless method if a cash transaction is required staff will be wearing gloves.
